Purminder Gandhu
25 Years of Audio Expertise in Broadcasting and now working to help shape broadcast technology solutions for now and the future.
Purminder joined the BBC as a trainee studio manager in the early 1990’s, progressing through to a senior studio director. A varied career, she’s provided audio expertise for 25 years across domestic and World Service BBC radio output. This has included recording, editing and mixing in live studios, operating radio trucks and building broadcast facilities on location domestically and overseas for major events.
Purminder now leads the BBC Edge Group, a pan BBC forum of live contribution and connectivity subject matter experts. The group engages with the wider broadcasting industry and manufacturers; and aims to learn and share through piloting innovation in tech and steering the workflows across the BBC. Purminder was part of the award winning team that championed the development of a 5G non public network, which was deployed successfully to provide coverage for the Coronation. She also regularly speaks on technology panels at industry events and is part of BBC R&D’s D&I working group.
The WBU recently invited Purminder to join their planning committee, which she was delighted to accept.
