Ben Wickham

Director of Creative Output, Sky

Ben has spent the past five years shaping the creative direction of Sky Sports’ broadcast output, leading its directing teams while overseeing graphics, studio design, styling and the overall on‑air presentation. Working at the intersection of editorial, technology and creativity, he plays a key role in how output is to life for millions of viewers.

He joined from Sky News, where as Head of Studios he was responsible for the delivery of complex, fast-moving live programming, and helped evolve the look and feel of the channel’s output. Before that, he was lead director on Channel 5 News, building on a career that spans some of the UK and Europe’s leading broadcasters, including Channel 4 News, ITV News and CNBC Europe.

Everybody sees what happens on the screen and what goes out, but there's so much work and effort goes into production, the preplanning and making these things happen, to be recognised for that work that goes on preproduction is amazing!

To recognise people that do stuff that isn't normally recognised, you know it's normally the hosts, the executive producers and the creative directors, but yeah the technical stuff makes it happen!
